School Based Therapeutic Services
(SBTS)
SBTS is a licenced IBHS (Intensive Behavioral Health Services) program. It is a psychoeducation program utilizing the following IBHS services types. Graduate Level Professional (GLP) and Behavioral Health Technician (BHT). The main target of services would be those individuals in grades first through ninth in the Altoona Area School District, with severe and persistent emotional and behavioral illness, or Mental Health disorder, that results in functional impairment and limits the child's ability to engage in school activities. This program operates in a classroom setting where education and medial support is provided along with a transition coordinator who works to get he child transitioned back to their regular education setting.
Target Population:
- Children must have Medical Assistance or other contracted arrangements.
- Children must have the service recommended and prescribed as medically necessary via a written order completed by a qualified individual.
- Treatment team consisting of the parent(s)/guardian, school district, and Blair Family Solutions must agree to the appropriateness of the placement.
- Children must experience behavioral difficulties that impede their ability to function in the regular or special education school setting.
Children must have unsuccessfully attempted a less restrictive treatment approach such as IBHS Services or deemed inappropriate for other recommended services.
Children that are appropriate for this program would be experiencing the following which include but are not limited to: poor self-regulation, inflexibility, disorganization, poor self expression, problem solving, adaptability, anger control, and impulse control that are preventing them to be maintained in their natural school setting with IBHS or other support services.
